Fundraiser Pick-Up

Fundraiser Item pick-up is tomorrow October 17th from 3:30-6:30 PM in the cafeteria.  Please plan to pick up your order, or make arrangements for a friend or neighbor to pick up your order for you.  We do not have a way to store items that are not picked up.  If you are able to help out with delivery and pick-up tomorrow afternoon/evening, send me an email to CJHarrisPTA@gmail.com.

October Swap Shop

Community Closet/Swap Shop
(Pearland Council of PTA and PISD working together for all our students)

The next opening of the Community Closet/Swap Shop organized and run by the Pearland Council of PTAs is on October 29th from 5-7pm. Pearland families are invited to come and swap/exchange standardized dress code clothing. If you have nothing to swap, contact your local school nurse/counselor for a voucher.

We are open the last Tuesday of every month (except on holiday week).
Next two will be on November 19th and December 17th.

The Community Closet/Swap Shop is located behind Pearland Jr. High West in the brown building across from the PACE Center. Enter from Old Alvin Road, turn in driveway leading to the PACE Center. The building is straight ahead, look for a banner with “Swap Shop” on it. Park in the PACE Center parking lot, and follow the signs to the building.

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night

Our Chick-Fil-A Spirit night is coming up on September 24th from 4:00-10:00.  Take a night off of cooking and come out and enjoy a quick dinner.  A percentage of the proceeds are donated to the school.  We will be having a stack the sauce competition between some of our awesome teachers and/or staff at 5:15.  The Chick-Fil-A cow will be at the restaurant in the evening, and will also be stopping by CJ Harris in the afternoon.  Due to the hot temperatures, the cow will only be outside for a short time during dismissal.

Back to School Week

The busy back to school week is in full swing.  We had a great turnout last night for Kindergarten orinetation. If you need school supplies, we have some Kindergarten and Pre-K packs available for purchase.  Kindergarten packs are $43.00 and Pre-K packs are $31.00.   We will be at the school today and tomorrow from 3-7 selling school supplies, PTA memberships and school spirit apparel.  We will also be available on Friday morning after teacher meet and greet.  Stop on by, and find out  more about what CJ Harris PTA is all about.

EPI, the company we get our school supply packs from, has packs available for purchase if you were not able to pre-order yours.   If you need supplies for a student entering 1st through 4th grade at CJ Harris this fall, contact EPI at info@educationalproducts.com, or visit their website at www.EPISupplies.com

New Spirit T-Shirt Designs

With the changes to the school dress code policy, students can wear approved spirit t-shirts on any day. With that in mind, we have designed two new spirit t-shirts for this year.  Here are this year's designs.


These shirts will be available for purchase on August 20th before and after Kindergarten orientation which is at 6:00 PM, during teacher assignment on August 21st and 22nd from 3:00-7:00 PM, or after teacher meet and greet on Friday August 23rd at 8:30 AM.   The order form is available at the sidebar on the right hand side of this page.  We will also send order forms home with students after the start of the school year.  The blue shirt will be sold for $7.00 each, and the green shirt will be sold for $10.00 each.  Adult 2XL shirts will be an additional $2.00 each for both colors.

Teacher Appreciation Week

The PTA planned a luncheon for the teachers and staff today to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week.  We provided a Catered lunch from Big Humphrey's Italian Restaurant including lasagne, mannicotti, salad and garlic bread.  Drinks and desserts were donated by PTA members.




Thanks to all our volunteers for your donations and you time.  It really helped make this event a success.  The teachers and staff enjoyed the food.

An extra big Thank You to all of our teachers and staff for all you do to make CJ Harris such a great place for our children to learn and grow.

2013-2014 School Supply Pack Orders


The CJ Harris PTA has worked with Educational Products, Inc. (EPI) to provide pre-packaged school supplies for the 2013-2014 school year.
These packs are available to purchase online through EPI at www.epipacks.com. The school ID for CJ Harris is HAR029. Online school supply ordering is encouraged, and is available until June 26th.
If you do not have access to order online, we will be accepting orders until May 24th. For all paper orders please fill out the form completely, and include Texas Driver's License number on your check. Make your check payable to CJ Harris PTA.
Your order will be available for pick up at the school during teacher assignment August 21st and  22nd  from 3:00-7:00 pm, or at Teacher Meet and Greet  on Friday, August 23rd from 8:30-9:30 am.
Please note that If you intend to purchase pre-packaged school supplies, you must pre-order. The PTA will not be offering school supplies for purchase in August except for incoming Kindergarten students. Kindergarten packs will be available for purchase in limited quantity while supplies last.

2013-2014 Officer Nominations


The nominating committee met to review the nomination ballots and select a person to run for the following positions of the PTA Executive offices: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer. Our goal was to assemble a group of nominees who would work together to provide a service to incorporate the PTA mission statement: enabling all children to have a voice.
The following things were considered:
  1. Number of nominations received
  2. Previous Behavior/Accountability/Reliability
  1. Do they follow through and complete the tasks they’ve committed to?
  2. Are they punctual and do they complete things in a timely manner?
  3. Are they accurate and detailed?

After careful consideration the nominating committee presents the following for the 2013-2014 PTA Executive officers:

Secretary: Amy Schrenk
Treasurer: Marci Boyd

All current PTA members are encouraged to attend the General Meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 6:30pm to vote on these positions.

Spring Book Fair Volunteers Needed



The Spring Book Fair is coming up soon.  We are in need of volunteers to help with set up, working the fair, and take down.  
Any help you can give would be appreciated,  even an hour in the morning after drop off, or in the afternoon before pick-up would be helpful.

The book fair set up will be this Friday, February 22 during the school day.                                                  

The Book Fair Will Be Open for Business:  
February 25 – 28 – Monday – Thursday 

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday  8:15 AM- 2:30 PM
Tuesday (late evening)  4:00 PM- 6:00 PM
Wednesday 8:10 AM - 12:45 PM
During the book fair, students need help finding the items they are looking for, and also with pricing.  

We will need help to take down the book fair on Friday, March 1st during school hours.
Set up involves moving the chairs and tables to make room for the book fair carts.  Moving the large book carts into place, and setting up display tables.  

Take down involves packing everything back up, and putting chairs and tables back in place to prepare the library for students the following week.

Many volunteers are needed to help make the book fair successful!  If you’d like to volunteer your time to help set up, work or take down the Book Fair, contact Ms. Laitkep at Laitkept@pearlandisd.org.  You can also send an email to CJHarrisPTA@gmail.com. 

All volunteers are welcome, but please make sure you have done your PISD Volunteer background check at pearlandisd.org .

Family Western Night


Family Western Night is coming up this Friday, February 22 from 5-7 PM.  
We will be eating BBQ sandwiches, enjoying country music, and visiting with friends and families.    Food purchase is not required to attend.
BBQ Sandwiches, Chips and a drink are available for $5.00 each.  Food must be pre-ordered, and orders must be received by February 20th

Volunteers are needed and appreciated.  If you would like to help out on Friday with set-up, working during the event, or clean up, please contact Suzi Murphy at 832-347-0744 or email Suzi0818@gmail.com.     You can volunteer in 30 minute increments so you will be able to enjoy time with your children as well.
We will be having a bake sale and appreciate any donations of store bought or homemade cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. that can be packaged in small ziplock bags or sold individually.  Please do not send pies, cakes, cobbler, etc. as they are too messy to sell in small portions.  

Bake Sale donations need to be delivered to the school by 9:00am Friday 2/22/13.  If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact Chasity Napper at  281-413-4767 or email chasityn22@yahoo.com

The PTA will also be having a rummage sale to reduce inventory of Santa shop items,  school spirit shirts and hoodies from previous years, and assorted other items currently in storage.  These items will be offered at reduced prices.  Many items are in limited quantity or sizes.

Chinese New Year Teacher Luncheon

We are celebrating Chinese New Year today by providing a luncheon for our teachers and staff.  

Thanks to our Principal, Mrs. Keimig, our hospitality committee, and several of our PTA member families for helping to fund this event for our Awesome teachers and staff. 

Special thanks to the wonderful people at Dragon Chinese Buffet and Kroger for helping us be able to provide the food.  The teachers and staff are really looking forward to it.
